To
really see the Galapagos islands, we recommend you take one of the Galapagos
cruises offered in the following pages. Land based tours
are also avaiable but they limit you to nearby islands. Galapagos
cruises give you a chance to see more islands located farther
away. There are an array of Galapagos cruises available for every price
and time range. We highly recommend taking an 8-day cruise, though if
you don't have time, there are 4-day cruises as well.
Because
each and every island is a distinct little geological and biological
world, the Galapagos cruises give you a chance to see the living science
lab of evolution and the Galapagos islands. You'll be able to experience
and walk through volcanic rock and see how time changes the harsh
landscape, developing lush highland forests. The cruises are also
a great way to meet other people who share your same interests. Galapagos
Islands Cruises are always an adventure and learning experience
and by far the best way to experience the islands.
All
Galapagos cruises will have a naturalist guide aboard (type I, II,
or III).
A professional Naturalist Guide is integral to all cruises. Some have
several (depending on the size of the boat). The Naturalist Guide
is a trained professional who will teach you about the unique geology,
flora, fauna, and history of each island.(Check
out our FAQ for more information on guide types.) Galapagos
cruises and tours include transportation, food, accomodation,
and guided tours of the islands. There are 5 categories of Galapagos
cruises; their differences being facilities, space, type of guide,
islands visited, food, and number of passengers aboard. Prioritize!
Find out what is most important to you, and book your Galapagos cruise
accordingly.

work with most of the yacht operators in the Galapagos. We give you

Luxury
Galapagos cruises |
This
is definitely far from "roughing it!"
Luxury Galapagos cruises and yachts are equipped with everything
you need: cabins with private baths, AC, hot water, a large
dining room, a lounge with TV/VHS and stereo, a large deck for
sunbathing and a bar. Buffet-style meals are served. They oftentimes
have a higher number of passengers, and some are faster so they
can go to the far away islands (Fernandina or the west side
of Isabela).

Tourist
Sup Galapagos cruises |
Comfortable
Galapagos cruises, somewhat roomy, and economical, this is a
great option for those of you on a budget but aren't ready to
give up all of the luxuries of everyday life. Most of the yachts
have private bath, AC, and hot water. The food is quite good
as well as the guides.

Tourist
Galapagos cruises |
The
Galapagos tourist cruises are popular with younger people watching
their pennies. They offer great services without the commodities
of the other yachts. It's not a bad option for those who are
less concerned with comfort than cost. The higher ranking guides
aren't usually found on Tourist cruises, either.

Economy
Galapagos cruises |
These
cruises are usually popular with backpackers and young people
on tight budgets. Economy Galapagos cruises follow the same
course as the majority of the other boats without the luxuries.
The bathrooms are shared (oftentimes with the crew as well),
the rooms are small to cramped, and you aren't guaranteed a
guide with a good command of the English (French, German etc.)
language. Taking a Galapagos cruise economy-style, though, is
a great way to get to know a group of people fast!
