GENERAL INFORMATION
DESCRIPTION
On many tours this is the first stop, leaving from Puerto Ayora, heading north. Red sands and teal waters characterize this island. Sea lions cover the waterfront, and the bull is always making a show of his bravado. At one time, there was a flock of flamingos, but because of the noise and fighting amongst sea lions, they needed to move along. Now, where the flamingos once thrived is a great sea lion bachelor pad. Pelicans also nest here, and it's a great place to see them.
There's a short walk to the top of the trail where you can take fabulous photos of the clear waters and volcanic peaks. There's also great snorkeling. Keep near the rocks and keep your eye out for sharks and rays.
